Chuck Close: Gridded Portraits
Modern Artist Chuck Close is perhaps most famous for his large scale faces and grid portraits of people. In this lesson students will learn how to employ a grid to create an accurate reproduction of a face and then learn about the concepts of pattern and value to create a dynamic portrait.

Portraits: Choose your lesson!
Click on the button below to find a play list of lesson videos on facial features. I would recommend watching the video through once and then on the second round applying the knowledge to your drawing.
Grid method:
If you like using the grid in class to help improve your drawing accuracy, use this great online tool to help you do a little of the work and print your image with a grid already on it.
Coil Pottery
Animal Eyes
Animal eyes are expressive, intriguing pieces of animals that many of us haven't had the pleasure of looking into or studying. In this lesson we will learn a lot about the color wheel and discover the hidden colors lurking within the eyes of our chosen animal.

Word Sculpture
Student freedom and creativity is key in this project. Each student will be given a word and from that word will grow a sculpture.
